About the Author
Saxophonist and flutist Greg Fishman is an accomplished performer, recording artist, author, teacher and clinician. Born in Chicago in 1967, he began playing professionally at age fourteen. Greg graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a degree in Jazz Performance, and earned a Masters Degree in Jazz Pedagogy from Northwestern University. He is among the foremost experts on the music of Stan Getz and is the author of three Getz transcription books published by Hal Leonard. An overall invauable tool.

This is a great way to develop knowledege of the fingerboard. Stay in one area of the neck, take a lick, or two back to back, and add anything else you'd like to it. Now repeat the entire line in another location on the neck. I also love that it is broken down to the family of chords to play over, Major, Minor and Dominant. A great number of licks/lines to choose from. I prefer to call them lines as they are very melodic in content which leads you to want to embelish on them to your taste. The slow disk and fast disk are helpful as well. Thanks Greg for this overall invauable tool.

Cool vocabulary of useful licks over standard chord progressions

Very nice collection culled from years of experience. Even an old-dog like me learned a few new hip licks.
Proviso: obviously, this is best suited to those guitarists who can read music.

One of the best self-study learning tools that I have encountered

This is an outstanding aid for substantially augmenting and enriching your jazz lick vocabulary across a solid range of chord progressions in all keys. The inclusion of the sax versions on CD in the guitar edition is generous, and well thought out the different CD for up-tempo versions. The licks are applicable for soloing, the guide versions are well played, and the backing tracks of high musical quality.
